Getting to know us
We are a private Christian preschool overseen by the eldership of Glenridge Church. Our strengths include a strong sense of family and a homely atmosphere; loving and caring teachers and staff; a varied and stimulating curriculum, numerous outings and “innings”, special days and events (e.g. “Mommy and Me” Day), Bible curriculum, language and pre-reading skills and a healthy balance between indoor learning time and busy outside play time. And we love Jesus!
We desire to provide an environment that will cater for the development of the whole child – spiritually, physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially. Our program is child-centered and strives to guide the child in his/her early interaction with the world around him/her.
Our classes
Grade 000 is for children who are 3 turning 4. Grade 00 is for children who are 4 turning 5. Grade R is for children who are 5 turning 6.
School times: 8:00am - 12:00pm. Aftercare hours: 12:00pm - 5pm.
Our heart
The effective aims of the We Friends program include:
helping the child to enjoy success,
developing open-mindedness and flexibility,
building confidence and a positive self-image,
enabling the child to give and accept constructive criticism,
developing creativity and aesthetic awareness,
promoting initiative and encourage cooperation,
providing him/her with the necessary language skills to express his/her ideas,
developing pre-skills and concepts that will equip them for formal schooling,
and we also believe that this is an important time in a child’s life for the laying down of Biblical foundations.
In order to achieve our aims effectively we have loving and trained staff, small classes and a well-equipped and prepared environment. We have a heart for children and are committed to serving them as best we can. It is our desire that each child reach his/her maximum potential. We believe that encouragement is the most effective method for reinforcing good behaviour and that consistent, loving discipline is important for the character development of the child.
Our Vision
We develop and nurture an individual child who is surrounded by an apostolic, prophetic preschool that is real, relative and relational. Our heart is for children, the lost, diversity, Jesus and His word. Our team of teachers, together with our parents, aim to see your child grow and develop into all that God has called him/her to be.
Our History
It all started on 5 October 1992 when the school was founded by Sandy Lauf.
After Sandy Lauf, the principals included Gerry Chadwick, Cindy Pillie, Nicky Walton and Brigitte Howell. The school is now in the very capable hands of Taryn Wegerle.
